Ariel Wilkis

Ariel Wilkis is researcher and co-director at Centro de Estudios Sociales de la Economía (Universidad de San Martin). He received a P.h.D in sociology from Ecole Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris). His areas of interest are economic sociology, sociology of money and finance and social theory. In the past five years, his fieldwork has been located on the slums of Buenos Aires. He has analyzed the conflicts and moral regulations around the use of money in different economics circuits: informal and illegal circuits, political and religious networks, formal and informal system of credit and household economy. Currently, he is writing a book about the connections between money, moral values and the popular life in Buenos Aires.
