Freek Janssens

Freek Janssens is a researcher at the Institute for Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. His project focusses on the politics of urban marketplaces. He has conducted ethnographic research on street markets in London, Amsterdam and Istanbul. He also has an interest in wholesale markets. Freek’s ambition is to connect research with practise. For this reason, he founded Stil Novo in 2005, which works on market design in Amsterdam and Istanbul, amongst others things. Freek also advices local government the Netherlands.
